The Historical Society of Palm Beach County is hon

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County is honored to present Stories of Rescue, a profound new exhibit drawn from the collections of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (@holocaustmuseum). Now on view at the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum, this exhibition shares extraordinary accounts of ordinary individuals—ministers, housewives, soldiers—who courageously intervened during the Holocaust to save Jewish lives.

With contributions from Eliane Strosberg, mother of Palm Beach artist Serge Strosberg, who honors her parents, Isi Leuwenkroon and Lilly Brenig, and personal artifacts on loan from the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center, Stories of Rescue is a powerful testament to humanity in the face of atrocity. Indefinitely on display, the exhibit also serves as a Holocaust education site in partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County.

Each spring, the Historical Society of Palm Beach County invites all members to attend the Annual Membership Meeting, where our leaders announce changes in the board of governors and share the accomplishments of the HSPBC during the prior year.

A highlight of this meeting is the presentation of the HSPBC community awards. Nominations are solicited from former honorees and historical organizations in Palm Beach County.

This year, those honored were Augustus Mayhew and Boca Raton Historical Society & The Schmidt Boca Raton Museum (@bocahistory).

Dive into the vibrant Hispanic diaspora in our community, featuring a captivating panel discussion, an exquisite reception by @donramonrestaurant, and a live flamenco performance to conclude the evening.

Explore the work of remarkable artists Gaby Viteri (@thecuratedlook), Paloma Eden (@paloma.eden), Andrea Facusse (@andreafacusseart), Maria Magdalena Mercenaro, and Caro Moonstar (@caromoonstar.art) in our multidisciplinary exhibit Visual & Natural, curated by Gaby Viteri. From the passionate strokes of Puerto Rican-inspired flamenco to the cosmic connections of Venezuelan artistry, each piece reflects the profound ties between Latinx traditions and contemporary culture.

The reception begins at 5:30 PM, with the panel starting promptly at 6:30 PM. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to engage with these incredible artists and their works.

From our archives, images of the incomparable @thebraziliancourt hotel in #PalmBeach.

Designed by Italian-born Rosario Candela, the Brazilian Court Hotel and Apartments opened on New Year’s Day in 1926.

The Spanish Colonial-style masterpiece featured terra cotta barrel tiles, arched hallways, and stucco walls. Designed by Italian-born Rosario Candela, the Brazilian Court Hotel and Apartments opened on New Year’s Day in 1926.

The Brazilian Court hosted socialites and politicians, as well as local guests. A winter retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, staff readied the Brazilian Court for seasonal residents each year.

The arrival of these guests marked the start of a vibrant social scene, often filled with exclusive galas and soirées.
