In 1920’s South Florida, Prohibition was a joke. Along the open coastline just a few hours’ boat ride from the British Bahamas, wealthy society swells, gangsters, and tourists paid handsomely to drink. The suppliers became folk heroes and the lawman the villain. Prolific author and retired Palm Beach Post reporter Eliot Kleinberg shares the sordid history, and absolute failure, of Prohibition in Palm Beach County in his novel Hypocrite’s Row, the first book of the “Adventures of Nate Moran” series.
