Celebrating Black History

Join us for the opening reception of our Black History exhibition, Historic Sites and Stories, a community-centered evening with complimentary admission. This gathering brings together history, place, and lived experience to highlight people and sites significant to Palm Beach County’s Black history. Many of these locations are highlighted in the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County’s Black Cultural Heritage Tour. Guided tours to select sites will be offered by the Historical Society during the 2026–2027 season.

Throughout the evening, we will hear from the following esteemed community leaders:

  • Annie Ruth Nelson, African American Research Library and Cultural Center of Palm Beach County, Inc.
  • Debbye Raing, Palm Beach County African Diaspora Historical & Cultural Society, Inc.
  • Jacquelyn Taylor, Palm Beach County African Diaspora Historical & Cultural Society, Inc.
  • Cora Perry, Industrial Roosevelt High School National Alumni Association & Friends, Inc.
  • Charlene Farrington, Executive Director, Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, Inc.
  • Brian Knowles, CEO and Founder, Power Builders Curriculum and Pedagogies

Together, these voices and places offer space for reflection, conversation, and a deeper understanding of Palm Beach County’s shared history.
